Today we will be focusing a little bit on Low Culture Media, read the Polygon list of The Best Memes of 2019, So Far and complete the following:
  1. Write a response in the COMMENTS
  2. Take the power into your own hands, create your own meme
    1. Think about what makes a good viral meme

We will read the VOX article and discuss as a class

After seeing an example of High Culture, Low Culture and those that blur the lines.

Complete the following:
  1. Look into a form of High Culture or Low Culture as well as their counterpart. You may choose to do your research on things such as: 
    1. Music
    2. Art 
    3. Television 
    4. Magazines 
    5. Literature 
  2. Research two specific example of this topic and write a comparison of the two. Keep in mind the following questions while writing: 
    1. Why is one considered High Culture when the other is not? 
    2. What similarities do you see between the two? 
    3. Does one rely heavily on the other? 
    4. Why do you believe that is? 
  3. Your Article draft should be 500-600 words 
  4. Cite any outside resources that you have used. 
  5. Submit your Article Draft on Google Classroom

  1. I'm not gonna lie, most of the memes on the list I either wasn't aware of, or I never found funny. Some of the memes were kind of funny, but I'm more into homemade memes like the Craddock meme. :)

  5. I've heard about around half of these and they give me a good chuckle, but I have to agree with David on this one, I prefer the memes like the Mr. Craddock ones we created. I personally have a very specific taste in memes so to full on laugh at one means good work has been done.
